Tyrannosuarus Rex was a dinosaur. He looked something like a giant lizard. In fact, dinosaurs were giant reptiles (lizards).

Tyrannosaurus Rex was about about 40 foot long. He weighed about 6 tonnes, and he had a long and heavy tail which helped him to support his large body, and which he swished as he turned around. Tyrannosaurus Rex walked on strong back legs. He had a large mouth with teeth that were long and sharp and jagged.

Tyrannosaurus Rex lived upon the earth about 125 mya (million years ago). He lived at a time which is called The Age of the Dinosaurs. Scientists call that time the Mesozoic Era which was a time during the Cretaceous Period.

Reptiles are cold blooded animals. Tyrannosaurus Rex lived in open spaces upon tender glistening green sprouting grassy land, Genesis 1:11,12 among herbs, and ferns, and pine trees, and trees of differing species and fruit bearing trees, in warm and damp places where there were, mountains, hills, valleys, large rivers, and volcanoes which erupted lava, ash, smoke, and gas onto the surface of the earth.

When fossils of Tyrannosaurus Rex were found, fossils of smaller creatures and animals were also found, and from these fossils Geologists (people who study rocks) were able to work out what types of animals and creatures were living upon the earth at the time of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

There were other dinosaurs, birds flying through the sky. Genesis 1:20,21 pterosaurs (flying reptiles), small mammals, insects, lizards and snakes, upon the earth, and the earth was abundant with tender glistening green sprouts, shoots, grasses, and herbs, branches, twigs, leaves, pine needles, pine cones, a variety of fruits, seeds, nuts, eggs and also one another, for the animals and creatures to eat. Genesis 1:11,12

Tyrannosaurus Rex laid eggs. They probably laid them in nests lined and covered with mud and the leaves of plants and left them to hatch in the warmth of the rotting vegetation and the sun.

When the babies were ready to hatch they probably made shrieking sounds and tapping noises on the inside of their cracking shells which brought their waiting mothers running back to their nests.

Baby Tyrannosaurus Rex looked like miniature Tyrannosaurus Rex. When they hatched from their nests their mothers cared for them and taught them how to hunt, and kill their food.

Some Scientists believe that Tyrannosaurus Rex hunted and ate dinosaurs. Others Scientists believe that Tyrannosaurus Rex used to eat the sick, the weak, and the aged, because his front legs were too small for hunting. Fossils of Hadrosaurs (plant eating dinosaurs) were found among fossils of Tyrannosaurus Rex. Some of the Hadrosaur bones bore the teeth marks of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Tyrannosaurus Rex ate meat. Hadrosaurs and Tyrannosaurus Rex lived on the earth in the same places and at the same time. Tyrannosaurus Rex probably hid behind bushes and trees and ambushed their prey, they may even have fought other dinosaurs for their meat.

With his jagged teeth and his large mouth, Tyrannosaurus Rex could kill his prey with a single bite, he then used his sharp and jagged teeth to tear, and devour, his bony meat.

Where were Tyrannosaurus Rex found.
The fossils of Tyrannosaurus Rex were found in North America. Tyrannosaurus Rex lived at the end of the Age of the Dinosaurs, about 65 mya (million years ago).

Dinosaurs were reptiles. Reptiles are cold blooded animals. Dinosaurs are now extinct. The dinosaurs started to die out when the moon which was once a consuming fire burned out.
