Frogs.
Frogs come from eggs..The male frog leaps onto the back of the female frog, and he wraps his front legs around her chest..Female frogs lay thousands (swarms) of eggs in shallow water at the edge of swamps and marshes of water, and the male frog coats the eggs with a jelly like substance from his body..Female tree frogs beat the jelly into a froth for their little eggs to grow in..Swarms of frogs eggs are called frogspawn..Frog eggs look like little black dots inclosed in balls of jelly..The size of the balls of jelly are about the size of garden peas..Some frogs swim away and leave their eggs, and some male frogs swallow the eggs and let the little eggs grow in side of their bodies until tadpoles hatch and wiggle out of their open mouths..Frogs eggs fall to the bottom of marshes and swamps; and later they rise to the warmer surface of the water, where they begin to grow..As the frogs eggs grow, the eggs change shape, and little heads and a little tails can be seen inside of the ball of jelly, tadpoles are beginning to take shape.

It takes about two weeks for a tadpole to hatch from an egg..When the tadpole is fully grown he wriggles his way out of the little ball of jelly..Only a few of the thousands of tadpoles survive, because many are eaten by birds and fish..Beneath the water tadpoles breathe oxygen from the water through their gills on the backs of their heads.. Tadpoles have long tails which help them to swim about in the water..Tadpoles wiggle their way about in water.. Tadpoles eat little water plants, as they wiggle their way about in water.

Tadpoles grow long back legs, short front legs, big mouths,
and lungs and their tails, get shorter, and disappear before they turn into frogs. Tadpoles turn into frogs. It takes about three months for a tadpole to turn into a frog.

Frogs live in shady, moist places, near water, on the land..Frogs love to spend time in the water..The skin of a frog is smooth and slimy, and the water helps to keep their skin wet.. Frogs have long fingers on their little front legs, and the toes of their large back feet are webbed..Some frogs have sticky pads on their toes which help them cling to trees..The frogs webbed feet help the frogs to swim in the water..Frogs leap about by using their large back feet..Frogs use their large back feet to leap away from their enemies..Frogs have many enemies..Fish, birds, snakes, and hedgehogs eat frogs..Frogs have big heads, and their eyes are seated on top of their heads in order for them to see, because frogs cannot turn their heads around ..When a frog is sitting in the water, his eyes are peeping out of the water..Frogs hide at the bottom of swamps and marshes of water, where they hibernate (sleep) in the mud, until the end of winter..Frogs eat worms, grubs, beetles, and other insects..Frogs sit on logs..Frogs sit on logs and catch their dinner with their long sticky tongues..Frogs have long sticky tongues..Frogs breed in the spring..Frogs croak..Frogs have pouches of skin beneath their chins, which they fill with air, to make their croaks sound loud..Male frogs call female frogs by croaking..Male frogs are called bull frogs..Bullfrogs are territorial, and they croak to make other bullfrogs keep away from their territory..Bullfrogs fight each other for territory, or to protect their territory..In the Australian desert there are frogs that store water in their bodies..When an aboriginal is thirsty the aboriginal squeezes the frog to get a drink..There are different types of frogs, and frogs with different colours..There are frogs that live on the ground, and frogs that live in trees..Tree frogs change the colour of their skin to match the green of the leaves, or the brown of the bark of the trees upon which they sit.

What is the difference between a frog and a toad?
Toads are fatter than frogs..Toads have short back legs..
Toads dont jump and leap about like frogs..Toads walk about,
on their short fat legs..The skin of a toad is rough, and dry, and lumpy.

Swamp: Wet spongy ground. Ground soaked with water.

Marsh: Low lying land that gets flooded during wet weather. Low lying land that is usually waterlogged at all times. Low lying wet land. Spongy wet ground.

The earth is porous. The earth is like a sponge. The earth absorbs water. Water soaks into the ground. The ground can be saturated with water. A swamp is a piece of ground that is saturated with water. Ground that is saturated with water is spongy (soft). As the ground absorbs water, the earth expands and softens. Water
